What does a Photos by Karsen Wedding look like? Hopefully these Q&A's will provide a better glimpse into my work. Please still reach out and contact me with any questions or interests. I am flexible and easy going, so contact me and we can go from there. Thank you! -Ryan

HOW FAR OUT DO YOU BOOK?

I book 3 months to a year out. But you never know until you ask! No matter how far out (or close) your wedding is, we may be able make something work. Send a message and let's see what we can make happen!

HOW MANY PHOTOS DO YOU DELIVER?

I rarely aim for a certain number. Instead, I focus on creating quality images that thoroughly document what is in front of my lens on your wedding day. That said, I generally deliver 200-500 polished images, depending on length of shoot.

HOW DO WE MAKE THE BEST IMAGES POSSIBLE?

My goal is to create something that you will love and cherish, but also something that I am proud of creating. For that to happen, we will work together, share our visions and create a plan prior to your wedding. This prior planning allows me to capture the best images day of. By understanding your style, your dreams, and then finding your emotion in the moments, together we will complete your vision.

DO YOU NEED A SHOT LIST FOR THE WEDDING?

I will ask for a shot list for your family and wedding party photos to make sure no one is forgotten, and to ensure we get them done efficiently. Other essential photos at the wedding can always be requested. I recommend keeping the list relatively brief. Aside from those essential photos, I would prefer not to work off a list. Weddings are a series of moments--some crazy, some calm--but all equally important. I don't look at shooting a wedding as checking boxes off of a list. That said, we will work together to find your vision for important shots and ensure you have those.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR PORTRAITS / ENGAGEMENT SHOOTS?

Wear what makes you feel good and what you feel makes you look your best. If you have a specific look you want for your photos, let's talk and I will be happy to share some ideas and inspirations. From super casual to formal, we can find a location to shoot at that matches your vibe or mix it up and go for edgy look.

WHERE SHOULD WE SHOOT PORTRAITS / ENGAGEMENT SHOOTS?

My advice is to always to shoot somewhere that best represents you as a couple. A place that has some meaning to you, even if was only a small part of your relationship, will be a place where you will be comfortable and relaxed. This will come across in the photos and add to the feel of the shoot. As long as it feels like you, then our shooting options are endless. Whether its just around your neighborhood, or on top of a mountain, we will make outstanding photos together!

WHAT TIME DO YOU ARRIVE?

I always arrive before I need to. If I am early, then I am on time. Ideally, I like to be there for all the getting ready moments on through to the dancing and shenanigans following the ceremony and reception. I don't want to miss a moment. I am not the typical, charge by the hour kind of photographer. I am there to capture your day--not place you and your event in any sort of crunch by providing a time window to stick to. So from when you are getting ready with your wedding party until grandpa is leading the train across the dance floor, I will be there for as much as you want me to be.

CAN OTHER PEOPLE TAKE PICTURES WHILE YOU DO?

That is completely up to you! I don’t mind other people taking photos but I would ask you to ask your wedding guests be respectful and to not interfere with me doing the absolute best work for you.

HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL

How far do you want to go? I’ll go anywhere you want to--we can work out those details, so please don’t let that deter you from asking. Travel is included within reasonable driving distances. Travel by plane, train, or ferry may require extra negotiations.
